How To Apply For Speed Humps

The city opens a window of time to take speed hump applications twice a year, and there is a limited number of requests (only 30 per Council District) they process in each cycle for construction, so it’s important to be prepared to submit your application the morning the application window opens! If everything is approved you’ll see your speed humps in about a year because the application and study process takes about 6 months and the construction schedule takes about six months.

How To Apply For Permit Parking

The Parking Permits Division of the DOT implements all the permit parking programs for the City. There are three types of permit parking, depending on what the impact of the non-resident parking on your street is:
-Preferential Parking Districts
-Overnight Parking Districts
-Oversize Vehicle Restricted Areas

Once you have met and discussed your streets needs with the City Council rep, the process takes time (this can be up to a year!). You can do it, it just takes hard work and followthrough by you and the neighbors to get petitions signed (6 connected blocks), a study of the area done by DOT to confirm eligibility, and approval by the City Council.

For more help and information understanding the process, read this detailed guide to the three phases of getting Permit Parking on your street:
